Aditi (lit: limitless, boundless) is vedic goddess who personifies motherhood, Fertility and infinite cosmos. In Vedas, she is referred to as ‘Devamata’ as in her all heavenly bodies and dieties were born. With Sage Kashyapa goddess Aditi had 33 sons of which 12 were Adityas (including sun), 11 were Rudras & 8 are Vasus. She is also mother of Vamana (Vishnu avatar) and God Indra. As motherly figure she supports Sky, sustains all existence & nourishes the earth. As her name suggests (unbound) she Unbounds persons from hindrances like sin and sicknesses.
